At Rebirth Energy Solutions, we employ different strategies to formulate a cohesive plan for improving your home energy efficiency, comfort and safety. Everyone wants to pay less on their utility bills, but no one wants their home be less comfortable or durable as a result. There is no need to sacrifice anything for energy efficiency. It is our objective to improve your home’s energy efficiency, comfort and indoor air quality. With our approach, all consequences of any changes are considered. This allows you to make the best long-term improvements possible. It is our mission to ensure you don’t sacrifice ANYTHING for energy efficiency!
At Rebirth Energy Solutions, our services can be as basic as giving expert advice, or as complex as a comprehensive energy audit using diagnostic equipment.
Walk-Through Energy Audits-
This is a basic energy audit that uses no diagnostic equipment. If you are unsure that you want to undertake an improvement project, a basic walk-through audit will give you an understanding of the benefits improvments can provide for your home. A certified home energy rater will walk through the home with the homeowner and identify possible improvements. During this time the energy auditor will answer any questions the homeowner might have and give advice on improvements.
Blower Door Testing-
A calibrated fan is used to either pressurize or depressurize your home during a Blower Door test . While the fan is running, a device is used to measure pressure and airflow. With the data gathered from this test, we can determine the amount of leakage in and out of your home. Due to the pressure differential created by the fan, leaks can be precisely located. This test is also useful in determining the the amount of outdoor air which should be introduced indoors to ensure good air quality.
Duct Pressurization Testing-
Similar to the Blower-Door test is the Duct-Pressurization test. A calibrated fan and a device to measure pressure and air flow are utilized. This allows the auditor to determine the amount of leakage in your home's duct system.
Zone-Pressure Testing-
During this test the air distribution system is turned on and sections of the house are closed off. Pressure readings are taken in each section compared to the pressure outside. This gives us an idea of the pressures that are reached in the home during normal operating conditions. These pressures are important because they increase air infiltration (leakage) into or out of the home. This leakage can pose a threat to the home’s long-term durability by forcing moisture into building cavities. We are able to determine if the gas combustion appliances are being properly vented out of the home by duplicating worst case pressure scenarios. This is important to ensure that harmful gases are not being released into your living space.
Comprehensive-Energy Audits-
In addition to the services above, these audits include a computer simulation of home energy use. We use RemRate, a program developed by the Architectural Energy Corporation, to compare current energy consumption to consumption with certain proposed changes. This allows us to determine which improvements will have the best return on investment.
Builder Services-
Builder services include but are not limited to, performance verification of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems, insulation performance verification, and advice on how to improve home efficiency, durability, and comfort. This allows builders to reduce callbacks and overall costs. We help develop and verify performance-based contracts with sub-contractors. Everything will be clearly stated, in the form of a contract, what is expected on a particular job, and we will verify that those expectations have been met. In this way, we ensure that all aspects of a job meet the standards necessary for optimal performance. Also, we can help builders develop plans of action to participate in incentive programs. We are able to verify these projects and submit necessary paperwork in order to qualify you for these programs.
Energy Improvement Mortgage Qualification-
Qualify for additional money at time of finance/refinance for energy efficiency related home improvements. Ask us how this Energy Improvement Mortgages can help you live in a more comfortable home that is cheaper to operate.
